May 31st Worship Service

The first Sunday of the Season after Pentecost and it is Trinity Sunday, where we celebrate Jesus the Son, God the Father, and the Holy Spirit, three separate entities, yet one God in one Body.  Although it seems confusing there are references in the scripture to the Trinity.  In Matthew 3:16-17 and Luke 3:21-22 during Jesus’ baptism a Jesus is lifted out of the Jordan we have the  Spirit i the form of a doze and the voice of God saying, ‘This is my Beloved Son in whom I am pleased,” placing all three entities together.  The Trinity is also referenced by Paul in 2Corinthians 13:14, and the Gospel of John starts with Jesus in the beginning of creation as the Word and becoming the Word in flesh on earth.

One God Head, three personalities.  Each has their own area of coverage.  While their knowledge is universal, meaning there is a shared understanding.  Each understands the outcome and final objective which all three are working together toward.  The God Head is sovereign over all the activities taking place in todays world.  Within the God Head there is a shared common understanding of what has happened, what needs to happen next, and what will be the final outcome.

Their functions:  God the Father, we can summarize as the center and the guiding force of the Trinity, because, Jesus the Son and the Holy Spirit come from the Father.  The Father is the creator and sustainer of all things.  The father is the divine authority.  Reaching back into Genesis we see God the Father as the creator of everything form the universe to the flora and fauna, and the people who inhabit the created world.  It is through God’s power and Word, the all comes into existence.

Jesus Christ (Greek meaning Messiah) the Son.  Jesus is God incarnate in human form.  This means Jesus was not a separate creation by the Father.  Jesus was begotten in a human birth.  As God in human form Jesus’ purpose was to prepare the people of the who would develop God’s church and community on earth.  Jesus was born that He might be the ultimate sacrifice.  After his time among the people, finding those who would build the community, inspiring, teaching and training, Jesus was sacrificed on the cross.  Through His sacrifice the sins of every person who accepted Him as their God and Savior, were forgiven.  Because their sins were forgiven the individual could stand before God the Father (who cannot be in the presence of sin) and be accepted into the eternal life the Father has created for us in Heaven.

The Holy Spirit: To align the events taking place in the world and bring about the world of God the Father’s desire….it is all done by us.  The people who have given God their lives.  But we are not able, we do not know what to do, either in the social secular world around us, or in our own personal lives.  Hence the Holy Spirt.  When we accept God the Father as sovereign and building His creation. When we accept Jesus’ sacrifice through the Repentance Renewal and Redemption process (Ie. baptism).  The Holy Spirit enters into our hearts and is with us forever.  If we listen to the Spirit, the Spirit will be our guide to inner peace.  The Spirit will work with each of us, individually, to show us the tasks we must perform to do the work God the Father needs us to do.

Through the Holy Spirit God the Father, and Jesus the Savior, are with each of us, on an individual bases, every moment of every hour, of every day, until we stand in the presence of our God.  Join us for the May 31st Worship Service.
